Stand out from the crowd in your job application.
When writing an application, keep your employment value in mind – meaning why you are an asset to the company. In general, recruiters only have 7 seconds to skim an application. So, it’s important that you stand out from the crowd and establish why the company benefits from hiring you.
Do not write more than one and a half pages. Keep it short. Show, don’t tell. If you write you are dedicated, tell about a day at the former workplace where you worked all night to reach the deadline. If you say you are creative, explain how the company can profit from your good ideas.
If you have design skills, you might design your CV and application in InDesign. More importantly, choose a professional picture of yourself (portrait). If you do not yet have one, ask a friend to take a picture of you in a professional setting. Here are two examples: CV and CV2. CV is made in Word, and CV2 is made in the program InDesign if you want to be creative. If you want to see more examples you can check out this link from pinterest.
